Assistant U.S. attorney (prosecutor) puts on sentencing case implicating police officer in drug activity with his co-defendant wife, in an effort to obtain jail time for police officer client. Attorney McLain presents sentencing case, and Court awards probation, not imprisonment.

- Federal drug case: The leader in a gang run crack cocaine conspiracy was facing a federal sentencing guideline sentence range of 92 to 108 months. Due to his cooperation with federal law enforcement authorities, at the encouragement and assistance of attorney McLain, the federal judge was considering a downward departure to a sentence of 46 months, but after the sentencing case delivered by attorney McLain, the federal judge awarded time served, i.e. 19 months confinement.
